Impulse

It's almost instinctual.

You stand beside me
I want to wrap my arms around yours.
Your hand sits open beside you
I want to intertwine our fingers.
You hug me to say congratulations
I feel the urge to hold my arms around your neck
And kiss your lips.

All of these instincts hit me
And I almost act on the impulses
To act like I'm still yours.

There's a magnet inside of me
That draws me to you
Like a moth is drawn to a warm glowing lantern.

I get the impulse to reach for your hand
And wrap my arms around your waist
And say "I love you, babe."

I get the urge to hold you and never let go.

God, someone needs to get me a straitjacket.
